ABOUT THE AMP

Descrption

The Topaz is a low-wattage amplifier designed for players who want both beautiful clean tones and a wide range of gain textures in a compact format.

It delivers sparkling, articulate cleans inspired by the classic Princeton-style sound, with warmth, depth, and exceptional touch sensitivity. From there, the Topaz smoothly opens up into multiple gain stages with the unique diamond rotary knob on the back, offering everything from subtle breakup to rich overdrive and more saturated lead tones, always preserving clarity and musicality.

Its lower wattage makes it an excellent compromise compared to more powerful amplifiers, allowing players to fully explore its tonal capabilities and natural tube response at a practical, manageable volume whether at home, in the studio, or on smaller stages.

It also features the signature Rough control, a distinctive element that adds extra harmonics, texture, and character to the sound, giving the amp a more lively, expressive, and organic response.

The Topaz in combo version, is paired with the PreciousTones CrystalTone speaker, carefully selected to complement the amp’s dynamic response, harmonic richness, and tonal clarity.

The Topaz is built to be versatile, dynamic, and inspiring an amplifier that feels equally at home with pristine cleans, edge of breakup tones, and singing overdrive.

High- and low-tension switch, offers you to choose between two main B+ supply tension as High will be the normal tension and low will give about 50 volts less on the anode of the power tube and center tap of the output transformer as also less tension to the pre amp tubes.

With this switch you can travel through sound that is less aggressive, smoother, sweeter or growling cleans straight in to your face, tight and lots of dynamics…

and even brighter and sparkling if you use the “push pull” switch hidden on the volume pot.

We also implement a negative feedback switch that allows you to have 3 different feedback as Low, High and Normal.

We decided to use this mod since the Fender always had different values of the resistors on the feedback line due to the different speakers impedance value, so you would see the same circuit with different value because speakers would be 2, 4 or 8 ohms.

We thought let’s try this and see if we feel that the difference is interesting enough to make us implement a switch… and it was!

So we did it, it is really interesting to mess around with the switch …

Rotary Switch 3 positions

This new feature allows you to have 3 different presets. By this

switch you will have the possibility to have of course the Sapphire

position and 3 other presets which are :

PENTHODE/Hifi Mode

The second rocker switch offers a choice between pentode and hi-fi (ultra-linear) operation. In the pentode setting, the amplifier operates in a traditional tube configuration, delivering the warm, saturated tones that guitarists love. The hi-fi setting, adjustable between 20% to 40%, provides a cleaner, more linear response with reduced saturation, giving the amplifier a more precise and controlled sound suitable for various musical applications. This hi-fi setting is particularly suited for achieving the clear, articulate tones associated with Stevie Ray Vaughan when he played through Dumble amps.

Digital Bias displays

The Topaz includes an adjustable digital bias feature, giving you precise control over the tonal characteristics and response of the amplifier. Fine-tune the bias to achieve your perfect sound, from tight and focused to warm and dynamic, making it ideal for replicating the expressive and dynamic tones.

So remember that this amp has been created with the tweaking guitarists in mind. The once that want to experience the quest of the perfect tone for him/her ….We all know how

subjective tone can be, let alone the fact that we're all playing vastly different gear and styles.
